Tromso’s rice husk briquette machine was supplied to an association called the AS PRO SAVA Association, which manufactures essential oils in collaboration with local farmers and companies in Madagascar. The association plans to use the machine to produce briquette fuel called “Momigalite” for the boilers used to refine essential oils.

Background

In Madagascar, firewood is still used as fuel in many households and businesses, but because of that, deforestation has been a serious problem in the country. The association was aware of the issue and was looking for solutions to avoid using wood for fuel.

Here, Tromso’s technology was a perfect match because Madagascar is a huge producer of rice. By using Tromso’s rice husk briquette machine, rice husks that are usually thrown away can be turned into fuel. This helps them to produce useful fuel without cutting down forests while also reducing waste.

Tromso’s rice husk briquette machine is registered on the UNIDO Environmental Technology Database. It is capable of producing 120kg of solid briquette per hour and it is extremely durable and robust.
