UNIDO ITPO Tokyo organized an online business matching event “Japan-Africa Business Partner Matching” with UNIDO ITPO Tokyo’s African Advisors and African companies from 11 countries for 20 November – 4 December 2020.
In the resolution of the UN General Assembly in 1989, November 20 was decided to be designated as “Africa Industrialization Day”. Since then, UNIDO has been organizing a variety of events every year on 20 November in collaboration with the African Union (AU) and United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA).
On this occasion, the business matching event was to provide B2B online meetings between African and Japanese companies with a variety of business sectors including manufacturing, agriculture, construction, ICT, logistics, services, trading and utilities.
109 participants from Japanese and African companies searched and contacted to their potential business partners on the platform, which resulted in 215 meetings held and 584 messages exchanged.
On the first day, “Africa Business Seminar” was also broadcasted on the platform, jointly organized with JETRO, JICA and UNDP.
