Web-based Diagnostic Imaging Tutor -Navigator and Simulator-

I

mage diagnostic accuracy "variability" has actually led to fatal cases due to overlooking serious diseases. In response to this, we developed a web-based online service called " Diagnostic Imaging Tutor" that offers two types of applications: Diagnostic Imaging Navigator (Doc.navi) and Diagnostic Imaging Simulator (simu.Doc).

These applications provide knowledge, experience, and case studies in image diagnostics, thereby improving physicians' image diagnostic accuracy and promoting efficient acquisition of image diagnostic skills in both of urban and rural areas.

Major Features and Advantages

Diagnostic Imaging Navigator (Doc.navi)

  • Navigate through possible diagnoses based on evidence by looking at the examination images and pointing out the region and/or findings.
  • Searching for cases with images and explanations by pointing out the region, findings, or diagnosis.
  • A wide variety of cases can be viewed on the screen, including 87 cases of lung cancer and 47 cases of metastatic lung cancer, and more.

Diagnostic Imaging Simulator (simu.Doc)

  • Allows beginner-level students as well as those aiming to become medical specialists to study according to their objectives.
  • Our web-based system enables studying on your smartphone while commuting to and from work or school.

Applicability in Developing Countries

This technology is highly applicable in developing countries where access to specialist doctors is limited. By offering a remote, AI-driven Diagnostic Imaging Knowledge Service, it enhances healthcare workers' skills and improves patient outcomes through early diagnosis, especially for diseases like respiratory illnesses and cancer that are prevalent in these regions.

In fact, in November 2020, training was conducted at Gut Andrews Memorial Hospital (Manila) and the Philippine Society of Respiratory Medicine, with more than 100 physicians participating to improve the level of diagnostic imaging (Page 9 of the document from Headquarters for Healthcare Policy of Prime Minister's Office of Japan).

Further, "Diagnostic Imaging Tutor" will also be used in the upcoming project of Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED) to improve the medical capability in the Philippines. The project will be lead by Dr. Ohkado, Manager of Research Institute of Tuberculosis of Japan, Dr. Kawashita, Associate Professor of Hiroshima University and Dr. Sasai, Chief Director of NPO Medical Shinansha.

Sales Records

The technology has been successfully deployed in Japan with over 5,000 accounts provided to medical professionals. Additionally, it has been introduced to the Philippines as part of a healthcare capacity-building project, benefiting more than 200 healthcare workers.

Business Mode of Technology Transfer

One method is to establish local distributors and collaborate with them to expand the use of the product by healthcare professionals and to utilize their skills in teaching healthcare professionals how to use the product.

A certification system will be established and periodically renewed to ensure that Japanese staff maintain the ability to support local distributors.

Once the use of the Diagnostic Imaging Tutor is established locally, it will be possible to establish a local system to build, maintain, and operate the infrastructure for the Diagnostic Imaging Tutor.
