Online Seminar on Sustainable Energy in Mozambique, 22 February 2024

UNIDO ITPO Tokyo will organize an Online Seminar on Sustainable Energy in Mozambique on Thursday 22 February 2024.

According to the World Bank, Mozambique’s electrification rate in 2021 is still 31.5% (77.4% urban and 3.8% rural). The Mozambican government has a national electrification strategy that aims to increase energy access through grid connected systems and off grid and become an energy hub in the SADC region.

The seminar highlights the potential of sustainable energy sources such as hydropower and renewable energy. In the keynote speech, the Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM) will introduce an overview of the sustainable energy sector in Mozambique. In the panel discussion, the latest development related to off-grid power generation systems and funds availiable will be discussed in the purpose of identifing technologies and investments needed from Japan.
