UNIDO ITPO Tokyo is taking the opportunity of the visit to Japan of Mr. Teri, Executive Director of Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC), who spoke at a seminar held online last year, will organize the Tanzania Investment Seminar on Tuesday 28 May 2024 in Tokyo. (The seminar will also be held in Osaka on Friday May 31. For more information, please visit the Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry website.)

Tanzania is known in Japan as a leading tourist destination, with an abundance of natural and cultural heritage sites representing Africa such as Africa’s highest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro, a national park famous for safaris, and the resort island of Zanzibar.

Tanzania’s population has already exceeded 61.7 million according to the 2022 census, making it the fifth largest nation on the African continent and the third fastest growing in the world.

President Samia, who took office in 2021, has been promoting an economic policy open to foreign investment, moving the investment portfolio to the President’s Office and making various efforts to improve the business environment.  The Japan-Tanzania Business Dialogue was also established last year. With a relatively safe environment, Tanzania is not only a big market for Japanese companies, but also a promising hub in East Africa.

At the seminar, in addition to Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC)’s session on Tanzania’s foreign investment policy, business environment, and investment opportunities, there will also be a session by  Mr. Komatsubara, Resident Representative of UNDP Tanzania. Also, OSTI Japan, a group company of AAIC, which operates the TANJA coffee plantation in Tanzania and promotes the “Smart Village Initiative” plantation business in East Africa, and COTS COTS LTD, which operates “Yamasen,” a restaurant in Uganda that serves authentic Japanese cuisine prepared by Japanese chefs using local ingredients, and is currently building a fishery value chains in East Africa, will speak at the seiminar.

We look forward to your participation.
