Below is the update from Komaihaltec Inc. about their technology registered in the Environmental Technology Database.
300kW wind turbines supplied to the first wind farm in Bhutan
Komaihaltec Inc. supplied and installed two units of its 300kW wind turbines to the first wind farm in the Kingdom of Bhutan, which was commissioned in January 2016 in the village of Rubessa, Wangdue.
The wind energy project was planned in line with the Bhutan government’s policy to diversify its energy source which is now 99% dependent on the large hydro power stations. Komaihaltec’s KWT300 was one of the few wind generating systems which can cope with the complexed terrain as well as narrow and winding roads in the country.
The maintenance work of the wind farm will be transferred to the local staff after the two years of O&M training by Komaihaltec.
Komaihaltec is hoping to further contribute to the expansion of the renewable energy in Bhutan.
