UNIDO ITPO Heads' Meeting held in Tokyo

The heads and representatives of the UNIDO ITPO (Investment and Technology Promotion Offices) Network from 8 offices spread across the world (namely Bahrain, China, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Nigeria and Russia) met in Tokyo for its annual meeting from 4-5 June, together with senior officers in charge and staff from UNIDO HQs. The network aims to assist developing and emerging countries to achieve inclusive and sustainable economic development through foreign direct investments, technology promotion, and capacity building.
Hosted by ITPO Japan this year, the two-day session discussed the network’s past accomplishments and strategy going forward, especially in areas related to substantive programs, operations and publicity. Cooperation among ITPOs and with UNIDO HQ departments were also highlighted during the meeting. It was agreed that the ITPO network is unique and presents excellent opportunities to recipient countries to benefit from investment & technology promotion, capacity building, especially entrepreneurship development, as well as global fora and networking.
