On November 18, 2022, UNIDO ITPO Tokyo, with the cooperation of Kawasaki City, organized a tour to the 15th Kawasaki International Eco-Tech Fair held in Kawasaki city, inviting diplomats from the embassies of developing and emerging countries based in Tokyo.
The tour was part of our “Capacity Building (Embassy Programme),” and its purpose was to learn about the latest environmentally friendly technologies from Japanese companies. It was the first time in three years that the tour was held in a face-to-face manner. Thirty diplomats, including two ambassadors, from 30 embassies participated in the tour.
After meeting with Kawasaki City Mayor Norihiko Fukuda, the diplomats visited six company booths at the venue. They learned about the technologies that can be applied to the development of their countries, such as water purification systems, air filter sprays that improve the fuel efficiency of cars, water treatment overseas through public-private partnerships, and waste treatment. In addition to the effectiveness and performance of the products themselves, the diplomats asked many questions about the cost of maintenance and support for these products.
After the tour, the diplomats made the following comments.
・ I would like to discuss how the technology can be applied to solve my country’s issues in the future.
・ I was surprised at the high level of Japanese technology.
・ I would like to continue exchanging information with the companies.
