On Tuesday, April 18 2017, UNIDO ITPO Tokyo organized a site visit to Kawasaki Eco-Town in collaboration with Kawasaki city for a six-member delegation from Russia, led by Mr. Evtukhov Viktor Leonidovich, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.
Mr. Leonidovich, who leads policy development for waste management issues in Russia, hopes to create a sustainable waste management system in Russia, and the purpose of this visit was to learn about the Japanese Eco-Town concept.
During the visit, the delegation received a tour of the plastic waste gasification plant at Showa Denko K.K Kawasaki Plant. Many questions were asked on topics ranging from technical specifics of plastic recycling to the concept of Eco-Towns in Japan, which showed heightened interest by the Russian side.
The mission was coordinated on the Russian side by Mr. Vladimir Maryev of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, and also supported by the Trade Representative of the Russian Federation in Japan.
