UNIDO ITPO Tokyo organized a site visit to Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC) at their Kawasaki Plant on Friday, 6 July 2018.

This was the fourth embassy tour to MFTBC organized by UNIDO ITPO Tokyo with the cooperation of Kawasaki City and Daimler Group; Mercedes-Benz Japan Co., Ltd., Daimler Financial Services Japan Co., Ltd. and MFTBC. 31 diplomats including 4 Ambassadors from 25 developing countries joined this capacity building programme.

Passing through a green residential area, a bus with the delegation arrived at the MFTBC Kawasaki Plant which manufactures the extensive range of light- medium- and heavy-duty trucks for Japan and export markets, located in Kawasaki city that develops environmental-friendly industrial policies.

The programme started with presentations by Kawasaki City and Daimler Group companies, then the delegation was led to walk through truck assembly lines with full of secrets of high efficiency that even attract the Daimler headquarters to come over from Germany to see what they are. Following the large-scale production site, the tour continued to a quality management laboratory – to the Daimler’s world’s best QM team. The office adopts free-address seating designed for active communication among members, which is one of the essence to maintain high quality of work. The delegation was also impressed by state-of-the-art QM system using big data as well as accurate measurement technologies to address safety. At the end of the programme, they met with Mr. Hartmut Schick, President and CEO of MFTBC, and H.E. Air Vice Marshal Titus Mehliswa Jonathan Abu Basutu, Ambassador of Zimbabwe to Japan and Mr. Yuko Yasunaga, Head of UNIDO ITPO Tokyo expressed appreciation to him and all of Daimler colleagues.
