UNIDO ITPO Tokyo facilitated an online Delegate Programme with the following two officials from Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC)  for 7-30 September 2020, for promotion of the latest investment climate and business opportunities in Nigeria, which encouraged Japanese business communities to further invest in Nigeria.

Profile

Mr. Baba and Mr. Salami have been working for NIPC over 20 years to increase FDI to Nigeria including coordination among relevant organizations/agencies, support of company registration, land acquisition and facilities investment, improvement of investment policies, and relevant incentives for foreign investors etc.

Mr. Baba, as Japan Desk of NIPC, has visited Japan many times since the last delegate programme with UNIDO in 2017, to facilitate business partnership between Japan and Nigeria. Within its premises, NIPC has the One Stop Investment Center  which houses related government agencies for investment approvals and permits. NIPC is also one of the key institutions of “Japan-Nigeria Business Facilitation Council“.

 

Promotional Activities

They had individual online meetings with Japanese companies interested in doing business in Manufacturing/Agriculture/ICT sectors in Nigeria. During the programme, they also spoke at the online seminar “Nigeria Business Seminar” with the Executive Secretary/CEO of NIPC, Ms. Sadiku. They introduced recent business environments and investment potentials in Nigeria to Japanese companies.
