Rechargeable Solar LED Lantern
Panasonic Corporation has created a rechargeable solar LED lantern designed for use as a ceiling, desk and torch light all in one. This multifunctional lantern is portable and can be used in a variety of settings and circumstances. From homes and schools to hospitals and outdoor activities, this lantern can meet many needs. You can even use it when walking at night to guide your way. It’s easy to use and extremely portable.
Included in the lantern is a 3.5W solar photovoltaic panel for recharging purposes. The lantern can reach its full charge within six hours through connection to the solar panel.
This solar LED lantern doubles as a charger for those living in areas without electricity. Thanks to a built-in rechargeable battery, the lantern can store solar energy during the day, provide light at night and provide power to charge small mobile devices such as cell phones.
Major Features and Advantages
I. Built-In Battery Technology
Leading the world markets in technology, Panasonic’s built-in battery lantern is designed for high-efficiency use in a variety of applications. At full charge, the lantern operates for six hours in high-brightness mode, 15 hours in medium-brightness mode and 90 hours in low-brightness mode. Also, the battery can be re-used over 1,500 cycles before needing replacement, representing a major cost savings over time.
II. Durability and Longevity
With more than 10 years of use durability, the installed LED can provide long-term functionality. Also the lantern is waterproof and it is approved for outdoor use.
III. Solar Charge
Batteries can be recharged by the solar photovoltaic panel without emitting CO2. This is a sustainable, natural way to power devices in remote areas with no access to electricity.
IV. Dual Purposes
This solar lantern has dual purposes, as it can be used both as a light source and as a power source in areas without electricity. Fully rechargeable in six hours, it emits light in 360 degrees for convenience and practicality.
V. Community Outreach
Panasonic has launched its product in Kenya, Myanmar, Cambodia, Indonesia, Bangladesh and Malaysia as part of its initiative called 100 Thousand Solar Lanterns Project. This project is part of the company’s commitment to donate 100,000 solar electric lights to those in need by 2018.

Conceivable applications
Our product, rechargeable solar LED lantern, is a multifunctional portable lantern that can be used as ceiling light, desk light and torch light. This lantern can be used in various places and occasions including but not limited to home, school, hospital, outdoor activities and night-time walking. Because the lantern is portable, it can be easily brought to anywhere you want to use.
The lantern comes with a 3.5W solar photovoltaic panel to be used as a recharger for the lantern. The lantern can be fully recharged within 6 hours by connecting to the solar panel, in case of fine weather. Cellular phone and other appliances can be recharged through the lantern as a USB output is available.
Competitive advantage
Panasonic’s built-in battery technology is the world leading technology in the market today. Panasonic’s Ni-MH batteries can be used more than 1500 cycle time. The installed LED has over 10 years of use durability.
Performance
Batteries in the lantern can be recharged by the solar photovoltaic panel without emitting CO2. The fully charged battery can operate for approximately 6 hours in high brightness mode, for 15 hours in medium brightness mode and for 90 hours in low brightness mode.
The lantern has a long service life because:
– the batteries can be recharged more than 1500 times without significant performance loss,
– the LED lifespan is 10 years and more, and
– the lantern is designed to ensure waterproof for outdoor use.
