CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: Entrepreneurship Development Training for Ukrainian Women and Youth in Japan, 9-13 September 2024

UNIDO ITPO Tokyo in cooperation with the Investment and Technology Office in Bahrain (UNIDO ITPO Bahrain) will organize the Entrepreneurship Development Training for Ukrainian Women and Youth in Japan on 9-13 September 2024 at the United Nations University in Tokyo.  The programme is mainly aimed for Ukrainian students in Japan.  
The first round of the programme was conducted in June this year.

The training programme is designed to strengthen the capacity of evacuated women and university students from Ukraine by providing new entrepreneurial skills, and know-how to create new businesses. It ultimately aims to generate new and innovative vocations, business plans and/or businesses by the programme participants, with a view to enriching the participants’ communities and giving back to Ukraine. 

It will be a five-day intensive and interactive course in English consisting of lectures, discussions, group work, presentation, learning reflection and networking. The programme is “free of charge” and includes lunch, coffee breaks, some transportation costs.

Note: Attendance in full and in-person all 5 days is mandatory to receive a certificate.

Benefits to Participants

  • Participants will learn entrepreneurship skills and fundamentals of business plans such as marketing, finance, and accounting
  • Participants will have a chance to learn how to develop new business ideas through group work
  • Participants will build networks with innovative technology companies, venture capital funds, government agencies, and academic institutions in Japan and/or overseas
  • A certificate will be awarded to the participants who fully attend the courses and accomplish all the required tasks

Participant Qualifications

  • The programme will target Ukrainian evacuated women and university students who are temporarily living outside of Ukraine in Japan due to the ongoing situation in Ukraine.
  • The programme is mainly aimed for Ukrainian students in Japan.
  • Previous participants (from June 2024 programme) are not elligble to apply to this programme 
  • The programme is tailored for individuals who meet the following eligibility requirements:
    • Educational background: university or graduate degree
    • Language: advanced proficiency in written and spoken English is preferred
    • Willingness to learn new skills and to become entrepreneurs in their chosen fields

Application

Applications are currently being accepted for the programme.
Prospective applicants are required to submit their applications to UNIDO through the link below no later than Friday 12 July.  UNIDO will carefully assess each application to ensure compliance with the necessary eligibility criteria.  Shortlisted applicants will be asked to participate in an online interview and selected candidates will be notified via email by 9 August 2024.
