UNIDO ITPO Tokyo will organize the online seminar “Promotion of Gender Equality and Women’s Economic Empowerment in traditionally Male-dominated Industries and Occupations in Developing Countries” on 9 December 2021.
The seminar will discuss how the promotion of gender equality and women’s economic empowerment can contribute to industrial development in developing countries in order to achieve Goal 5 “Gender Equality” and Goal 9 “Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure” of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
In the panel discussion, moderated by Ms. Akemi ISHIKAWA (UNIDO Industrial Development Expert), there will be three speakers: Ms. Kako KURASAWA (Vice President, Sustainability Promotion Division, Komatsu Ltd.), Mr. Stavros PAPASTAVROU (UNIDO Industrial Development Officer), and Mr. Yuko YASUNAGA (Head of UNIDO ITPO Tokyo). The discussion will focus on the promotion of gender equality and women’s economic empowerment in traditionally male-dominated industries and occupations in developing countries, with examples such as projects on construction equipment operation training in Africa in which UNIDO and Komatsu have been collaborating.
